OVERVIEW:

The Windrunner 10K is brought to you by the Lisle Windrunners running club.  This is a CARA Registered race on a USATF certified course.  It is run entirely within the forest preserves of Danada and Herrick Lake, with little public traffic, except perhaps some wildlife.  Proceeds from the race benefit the Illinois Special Olympics.  A prized commemorative T-shirt to all pre-registered runners. Overall and five-year age group awards.  There will be refreshments, fun and be sure to stay for your chance at winning one of many raffle prizes. Instant personal results card printed near finish line.

COURSE:             

The Windrunner 10K race is a scenic partially shaded, flat to rolling course on limestone trails. The race begins and ends on the Danada Equestrian track located at the DuPage Forest Preserve HQ in Wheaton. The trail loops through the Danada and Herrick Lake Forest Preserves with split times at each mile and four water stations spaced throughout. The course is USATF Certified

DIRECTIONS:    

From I-88, exit Naperville road and go north approximately 3/4 mile. From Butterfield Road (Rte 56), turn south on Naperville road and go approximately 1/2 mile.  

PARKING:           

Parking is available on the east side of Naperville Rd at the Equestrian Center (walk to registration under Naperville rd. tunnel) with overflow on west side of Naperville Rd in the DuPage Forest Preserve HQ parking lot. Gear check is available at the registration table in the equestrian track infield just west of the Forest Preserve HQ building.

REGISTRATION:              

Online registration is available until 12 p.m. 3 days before race date.   Mail in registration must be received 2 days before race date. The fee is $25.00 with a $2.00 Discount for CARA members. Race day registration is available on race day between 6:45 a.m. and 7:45: a.m. for a minimum $28.00 dollar donation.  No discount on race day.  Register one of four ways:

PACKET PICKUP:  

Packet pick-up can be handled at Dick Pond Athletics, 2783 Maple Ave., Lisle - Saturday 8/23 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM 

Packet pick up on race day will be available on the race track infield from 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM.

GEAR CHECK:                   

Gear Check will be available at the Registration tent.

AWARDS:                           

Handsome and unique awards will be presented to the male and female overall winners, and five year age group awards through 70 plus. The one-of-a-kind middle of the pack award goes to the runner who finishes exactly in the middle.

PREMIUMS:        

Quality commemorative race shirts and goodie bags go to the first 350 pre-registered entrants. Quality raffle prizes will be drawn by number after race is finished and overall winners are announced.
